Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Last weekend I was working at the front door of the bar. I had 2 lines going, one for smokers, another with people who were just arriving. It was cold and everyone was complaining. I was letting people with stamps in as other people were coming out, at the same time I was carding new people so I could get them in as soon as possible.

Meanwhile two idiots are play fighting and I've told them to stop a million times, so I'm yelling at one of them to knock it off. Some other shithead is yelling at my manager because he was with a group of 15 people and they'd been standing in line for a long time and they wanted to come in. (He didn't call ahead, make a reservation, or show up before midnight, but we were supposed to cater to his needs ahead of everyone else)

While all this is happening, a woman is standing beside me, half in the way going "Hows it going? How's your night going? You having a good night? So, what do you do when you're not working here?"

Finally I look at her and say "You know, I'd love to chat with you, but I'm a little bit busy right now. Could you maybe go back inside so you're not blocking the door? I've got a lot of people coming and going." I was so nice to this lady. This drunk, unremarkable, none too bright lady who's blocking the door and trying to make small talk during the busiest part of the night. I was really really kind.

"You don't make it very easy for a girl to kiss you, you know!" she announced angrily, before stomping off back into the bar.

She left about an hour later, there was no line at this point, with her nose up in the air in an obvious attempt to snub me.

I haven't slept in a week with worry.
