A waitress comes to me tonight and says her last bill won't pay. She's been chasing him all night and he won't pay, he keeps putting her off. So I wander over and find him. As I approach him with the bill I realize he's fighting with a girl. She's pushing him away from her and he's pushing back. Finally she knocks the drink from his hand. I grabbed him and said "Alright you're done"
He argues with me and slips. I pick him up and he realizes I'm pretty pissed, so he says he has to pay his bill. He heads to the waitress station but then he decides he wants to know why he's getting kicked out. I told him because he was fighting with a girl and refusing to pay his bill. We go into a circular drunk argument. Finally he throws his card on the bar, announcing he's not paying and goes to leave.
What he didn't know, and I did, was that there was a cop at the front door. Buddy blows by the cop before I grab his collar and haul him back, spinning him face to face with the cop.
"Won't pay his bill" I said.
Cop says "Pay the bill"
Buddy argues "No, they won't tell me why I'm kicked out"
Cop replies, "They don't have to, they can kick you out for any reason...pay your bill"
An argument ensues, the copy simply repeating, they don't need a reason to kick you out, pay the bill or go to jail for fraud.
Buddy calls me retarded and flips his middle finger into my face. He says the cop has too much power, and that I have too much power (I'm tackling peace in the middle east next). The cop patiently explains that if he doesn't pay the bill he's going to jail for fraud and started reaching for his cuffs.
Buddy paid his bill. Didn't tip. I got a hug from the waitress who told me she felt safer when I was working. I'm wearing a white hat next weekend
