Liar Liar

So I read an interesting review of our restaurant and bar the other day on a foodie web site. Here it is:
"On the weekend my husband and I went to Standard Tap for a few drinks. While standing at the bar waiting for service my husband was punched from behind and taken down by 2 strangers, he was kicked in the face. Then the bouncers proceeded to kick my husband out of the bar for doing nothing. Still the same crap as Fox if you ask me, face lift with the same terrible attitude of allowing fights to happen."
I remember that night, we had 2 halloween parties that weekend. I also remember peeling people off of this guy. And yup, we kicked him out, along with the two other guys involved. We have a rule: get into a fight, get kicked out. That's it. We always kick both parties out. That's our attitude for not letting fights happen. You see usually people don't walk up to random strangers and punch them in the back of the head, and unless I'm standing right there watching some unprovoked random attack, I'll always assume that all the people involved need to leave. That way the other, not for some reason getting into a fight people can enjoy their evening.

What our friend doesn't mention is that her husband refused to leave when I asked him to. When I put my hand on his back to guide him to the door he spun away and swung an elbow at me. He ended up getting caught up in his own cape from his vampire costume. It took two of us to push him out, kicking and screaming the whole way.

Then he stood outside screaming at us about how we didn't know how to do our jobs. (I guess I should have let him stay and get into more fights?)  He also mentioned that he used to be a bouncer at this establishment. Since I was one of the first two bouncers to start since the new owner took over, he must have worked there when it was still the Fox where they had a "terrible attitude of allowing fights to happen."

We don't get alot of fights for the amount of people we get in there. One every couple of weeks. Usually they end quickly and quietly with some douche bag hanging around outside for an hour thinking he might get back in.  Sometimes they get out of hand but we handle it as best we can to end them as quickly as possible. Guys that get into fights aren't welcomed back.

And hey, summer's coming, maybe people will be in a better mood!
