Scream

A girl at the head of the line showed me her ID. It didn't look quite like her. So I asked her for her address.

"96 Wingfield Way" she says.
"Can you repeat that?" I asked
"96 Wingfield way, Airdire Alberta, T4B 0N5" she says
"Well, that's not what your ID says, so I can't let you in. Have a nice night"
That made her really made. Like, head spinning, steam out the ears mad. "I said 96 Wingfield way! Are you blind!?"  she yelled, holding her ID out for me to see.

I took it back, glanced at it and showed it to her. "Yeah, but your address is actually 76 Wingfield Way" I said. I looked at the other door man. "Hey Nick, think you can remember your house number if someone asked you without getting it wrong?"
"For every place I've ever lived in" he said, then recited one of them.

I turned back to my friend. "Sorry, if you don't even know where you live I can't let you in." I pulled back the rope. "Have a nice night"

She stormed off calling me an asshole. I can live with that.

Later she returned and asked why she couldn't come in. I told her to come back on her birthday with her own ID and I'd love to let her in.  Whenever that is.

She started screaming, "Fuck....FUUUUUCKK! Fuck YOU, you FUCKING BITCH!!"

I looked at her friends, "I think I made the right decision. You guys got anything to say?"

They just shook their heads.

Intolerable Cruelty

So, A few weeks ago some chick came in with a fake ID. She took a scan of her own ID, changed the date, printed it, put it overtop of her actual ID and taped it in place. She did a really good job, it fooled whoever was at the door at the time. (Couldn't have been me...really!) We found it on the floor later.

Tonight she came back, using the same scam. I noticed her name right away. She handed me the ID and I looked at it and said "Why is there tape on your ID?" as I pulled the tape off revealing someone elses card underneath.

To drive my point home that I don't like being fooled I stepped out of line and yelled to everyone there "Who's old enough to get in this bar tonight?!" most raised their hands and cheered.
"Well, some underaged chick with a fake ID just tried to come in ahead of all of you, how do you feel about that?" I announced.. They all booed while she stood there, to her credit, smart enough to be embarrassed. I gave her ID back and wished her a good night.
"Thanks for that" she said sarcastically, but not without a little humour.

When she comes back on her birthday next month I fully intend on buying her a beer.

Identity Thief

A kid came to the door the other night and we asked him for ID. He says sure, and quite confidently pulls out his wallet, opens it, and shows us the ID tucked neatly into the little plastic see-thru pocket. I asked him if he could take it out. He shut his wallet put it back in his back pocket and said "No, I can't."
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because it's fake" he said plainly, smiled and walked away.

I wanted to let him in just based on his honesty and ballsiness.
